QUETTA: – The Balochistan High Court postponed arrest warrants issued by a lower court for PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan in connection with alleged hate statements directed at state institutions on Friday.
The Balochistan Inspector General of Police, the DIG, the SP Legal, the SHO, and the guy who filed the complaint against Imran Khan have all received notifications from the high court. The case has been put on hold for two weeks.
The news comes as a Quetta police team led by City SP Nadeem Ahmed, DSP Abdul Sattar Achakzai, Sub-Inspector Malik Hameed, and two commandos, Qaiser and Sultan, arrived in Lahore to arrest the PTI head. The team had notified Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana that they had gotten non-bailable arrest orders from the court judge.
A judicial magistrate had issued non-bailable arrest warrants for the ousted premier the day before, instructing the authorities to deliver Mr Khan before the court after detaining him.
PTI Develops Plan Despite Concerns Over Imran Khan’s Detention
According to reports, the PTI has devised a new plan in light of Mr Khan’s potential arrest, and party members from south Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been dispatched to Zaman Park. At least 5,000 labourers will be assigned to work outside Zaman Park.
In the event that Imran Khan is arrested, PTI Senior Vice President Shah Mahmood Qureshi would assume leadership of the party.
According to sources, attempts were also being made to finalise procedures pertaining to the granting of party tickets before to the likely arrest of the PTI head. The Imran Khan-led party plans to begin its election campaign next week.
The Situation
A charge was filed against the former prime minister on Monday at the Bijli Road police station in Quetta for suspected hate speech directed at state institutions. According to the FIR, Islamabad police had arrived at Zaman Park to arrest the PTI head, but he escaped arrest and subsequently addressed his employees through video connection, inciting the people against the institutions.
According to the petitioner, Mr Khan made bogus accusations against security agents and sought to incite unrest in the nation.
On Sunday, officials from the capital police came to the former premier’s house in an attempt to arrest him after an Islamabad court issued arrest warrants for him in the Toshakhana case for evading sessions.
The police also stated Mr Khan was “avoiding” arrest in a series of tweets, adding that a police superintendent had gone to the room but the 70-year-old politician was not present.
Imran Khan was deposed from office in April of last year after a no-confidence vote, and he is now facing dozens of terrorist, corruption, and other charges.
