ISLAMABAD – On Saturday, the Supreme Court (SC) extended the deadline for submitting the implementation report on the Army Public School (APS) attack.
The court accepted the federal government’s petition and extended the period by three weeks during the hearing.
According to sources, the case would most likely continue after the court’s Christmas break.
Six Taliban militants invaded the school on December 16, 2014, killing approximately 150 people, including more than 130 students. The attack was Pakistan’s bloodiest in history, and the devastation spurred the government to declare all-out war on terrorist groups.
Following the incident, military tribunals were established under modifications to the Constitution and the Army Act to trial terrorists. The incident was claimed by the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) group.
Umar Mansour, the architect of the APS massacre, was murdered in an Afghan drone attack in 2017.
The Pakistani army said that all six terrorists engaged in the attack had been killed.
According to a statement released by the Pakistan Army, military courts constituted immediately after the attack gave death sentences to 310 militants, 56 of whom have been killed so far.
