ISLAMABAD : In order to give free medical care to the institute’s 50% of impoverished patients, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged the relevant authorities to pay particular attention to updating the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute’s system.
On Sunday, he presided over a conference in Lahore to discuss the state of the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute’s cutting-edge, no-cost medical services for the underprivileged patients.
The Prime Minister emphasised the need of starting an early hepatitis prevention and treatment programme under the direction of PKLI.
Shehbaz Sharif ordered the creation of a special fund specifically for the care of underprivileged patients and highlighted the urgent necessity to set aside a certain amount for this fund.
The Prime Minister was told that the institution is making efforts to increase its capability for complex surgery and that 41% of its underprivileged patients are receiving free medical care.
