PESHAWAR, Pakistan – With results still coming in from all around Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the local government elections held in 17 districts, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) leads with 18 seats, followed by the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) with 14, Independent (8), ANP (8), PML-N (3), the PPP (1), and the JI (2).

So far, unofficial and unverified results show that 53 of the 64 seats have been announced. The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) was elected to 18 seats, including 16 tehsil chairman. The party of Maulana Fazlur Rehman has won the mayoral elections in Kohat and Peshawar.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is now in second place in the election. Despite becoming the provincial government, the PTI has yet to win a single mayoral race. It was, nonetheless, recognised the victor in the election of 14 tehsil chairs.

So far, the Awami National Party has won eight seats, including one for Mayor and seven for Tehsil Chairmen. The election of Tehsil Chairman was won by seven independent candidates.

Pakistan Muslim League-N received three seats, Jamaat-e-Islami received two seats, and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Tehreek-e-Islah Pakistan received one seat each.
