Pakistan is ranked third among nations that have implemented internet restrictions.

(The Web Desk) – In the first half of 2023, Pakistan was rated third in the world for internet restrictions, after only Iran and India.

This is shown in a research released by Surfshark, a virtual private network startup located in Lithuania, that is based on a half-year examination of internet shutdowns tracked by the Internet Shutdown Tracker.

According to the article, Pakistan imposed limitations three times after the arrest of the former prime minister on May 9.

Access to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube in the nation was banned at the time, and multiple brief cellular network interruptions were noticed around the country for several days.

The Surfshark analysis focuses on Asia, where the majority of internet outages were observed during the time period.

Iran had the most internet interruptions, with 14, all of which happened in Zahedan on Friday amid demonstrations against the Zahedan tragedy.
